State police report some 911 call services not working due to technical issue

Michigan State Police says calls to some 911 dispatch centers around the state are not going through.

Update 9:03 a.m. Friday, January 31: Michigan State Police says all 911 dispatch centers across the state are up and running.

A "fiber optic technical issue" affected a number of emergency phone lines early this morning.

MSP says Peninsula Fiber Network, LLC is investigating the cause of the outage.

Original Post 7:58 a.m. Friday, January 31: Some 911 dispatch centers around the state are not working properly.

Michigan State Police and local law enforcement say a "fiber optic technical issue" is affecting a number of emergency phone lines.

MSP is advising residents to first call 911.

If the caller is unable to get through, state police says people should call their county dispatch center.
